Surgical care for common and complex conditions
Patients come to us with problems ranging from a troublesome hernia or gallstones through to complex pancreatic, liver and upper gastrointestinal disease. We take time to understand the diagnosis, explain the options and recommend treatment that is appropriate for the individual patient.
Hernias & abdominal wall
Complex, recurrent, incisional and other abdominal wall hernias, including advanced repair and abdominal wall reconstruction.
Gallbladder & bile ducts
Assessment and treatment of gallstones, gallbladder inflammation and biliary conditions.
Reflux & hiatus hernia
Investigation and surgical management for selected patients with persistent reflux or hiatus hernia.
Pancreas, liver & upper GI
Benign and malignant conditions affecting the pancreas, liver, stomach and oesophagus.
Endoscopy
Professor Peter Cosman and Dr James Walcott provide gastrointestinal endoscopy; Dr Walcott also performs ERCP where clinically appropriate.

Southern Cross Specialists is working with Circ Australia to provide circumcision using the UniCirc® surgical assist device. Consultation includes discussion of the reason for circumcision, suitability, anaesthesia, expected recovery, aftercare and potential complications.

Professor Peter Cosman
Particular interests include HPB (pancreatic, liver and biliary) surgery, bariatric surgery, complex hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction, reflux and hiatus hernia surgery, surgical oncology, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, and gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Dr James Walcott
Subspecialty training in upper gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary and liver transplant surgery, with expertise in open and minimally invasive surgery and therapeutic endoscopy.
