In addition to private practice, Anne is also casually employed as a Clinical Psychologist at the St John of God Hospital at Burwood, where she runs group programs in anxiety and depression. Anne has also worked as a Counsellor at various TAFE counselling services, where she counseled staff in regard to classroom management, and provided personal, educational and careers counselling to students. In her role as TAFE Counsellor Anne has also developed and delivered numerous workshops, including workshops on stress management, assertiveness, communication, study skills, exam techniques as well as confidence and self esteem building.
In her work with anxiety, Anne has experience working with adults and young people in treating a variety of anxiety related issues such as social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks and panic disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety, and health anxiety. Anne has received specialist training and experience working with anxiety at the Westmead Hospital Anxiety Clinic, which is a leading Sydney-based anxiety treatment and research centre. Anne has also received specialist training and experience working with depression at the Westmead Hospital Depression Clinic.
In her work with children and adolescents, Anne has worked with parenting difficulties, bullying and harassment, as well as psychometric assessment of intellectual and achievement functioning. Anne worked as part of a multidisciplinary child and family team at a Community Health Centre where she primarily worked with children and their families with emotional and behavioural difficulties. She also received training in assessing children who are gifted as well as those with learning difficulties.
Anne’s therapeutic techniques are flexible, evidence based and tailored to meet the needs of each individual. She has had several years practice using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and is also experienced in Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). She has worked with clients from various multicultural and religious backgrounds and is respectful of the specific needs of each person she meets.
Anne is an experienced and compassionate therapist, committed to providing a supportive environment in order to effectively assist individuals to overcome their difficulties.
Anne has participated in various areas of psychological research. In her Clinical Masters thesis, Anne examined the relationship between thinking style and depression in haemodialysis patients. She has also jointly developed a project that focused on helping young boys manage their anger, where she also worked closely with parents.
Anne is fully registered with the NSW Psychologists’ Registration Board, a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy, and the Anxiety Practitioners Network. Anne is also a registered WorkCover Health Care Provider (Registration no.: 8273)
