Tumours can arise from almost any part of any organ. They can be benign or malignant (cancerous). Some malignant tumours can arise from pre-malignant spots or growths (lesions). It may not always be possible to tell before commencing treatment whether a tumour is benign, potentially malignant, or definitely malignant, even with the best investigations.
